Car Club Supports Riley Hospital and the Local Community

The Classic Cruisers Car Club is a small organization making a big impact.

In 2023, the club raised and donated $20,100 in support of Riley’s Children’s Hospital and other local charitable organizations. The club collects donations from local merchants, businesses and supporters as well as funds raised by registration fees at the Linton Freedom Festival and the Bloomfield Apple Festival car shows the club sponsors each year.

In 2023, these raised funds were distributed to:

Riley Children’s Hospital

$8,000.00

Linton Civitan Clothe-A-Child Program

$1,500.00

Linton Community Food Pantry

$2,000.00

Linton City Park Board - Pride in the Park

$400.00

Bloomfield First Baptist Church Food Pantry

$2,000.00

Solsberry Christian Church "Operation Outreach" Food Bank

$2,000.00

Lyons Community Food Pantry

Since we began our fund raising efforts in 2007, the Classic Cruisers have disbursed $162,550 with $73,400 going to Riley’s Children Hospital and over $67,000 going to the local Greene County community. The club would like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters for making this possible!

Additional Background:

Prior to 2007, the club sponsored a yearly cruise-in and did not charge a registration fee. Any money we raised went solely to defray the cost of the show.
When we began to plan for the 2007 event, one of our members, Arnie Robinson, was passionate that we should charge an entry fee and solicit sponsors to help us raise funds with the goal of making a donation to Riley’s Children’s Hospital. Arnie convinced the rest of the club to give it a try and the club got to work raising money.  Arnie and his wife Debbie were tireless in their efforts to promote the car show and raising money. That first year, due in large part to the work done by the Robinsons, we were able to raise $6500 for Riley Children’s Foundation!

Since 2007, we have added another car show to support the Bloomfield Apple Festival and have expanded our outreach to include other local charitable activities which allowed us to raise $10200 last year….bringing our grand total since 2007 to over $ 115,450.  Sadly, we unexpectedly lost both Arnie and Debbie  to separate medical issues…they are sorely missed but their legacy lives on in our support for Riley’s and other local charitable activities.
